Volunteers play an important role at Dubois County Humane Society. From helping care for dogs and cats to supporting events and everyday shelter tasks, volunteers help us create a better experience for both animals and adopters.
Whether you have a few hours a month or want to be more involved, there are many ways to help. No special experience is required for every role — just a willingness to learn, be dependable, and care about the mission.

All volunteers must meet the following requirements:

Ways You Can Help
- Animal enrichment and socialization
- Walking dogs and spending time with cats
- Cleaning and daily care tasks
- Laundry, dishes, and organizing
- Special events and fundraisers
- Skilled projects and behind-the-scenes help
- Complete a volunteer application
- Attend orientation
- Start helping where needed most
All volunteers must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Commit a minimum of 4 hours per month long-term. *Exceptions apply for Dog Day Out activities
Must never have been convicted of any crimes related animal offenses such as cruelty or neglect. - Have an approved volunteer application on file
