Spay/Neuter Transport Driver to Indianapolis:
  • Twice Monthly to drive our shelter pets in need of spay/neuter to Pets Alive in Bloomington. We typically take 15-20 kittens/dogs per trip.
  • Van/Fuel will be provided for us (pending approval of driver by our insurance company).
  • Transport must arrive in Bloomington for unloading by 7:30am EST and pets are picked up at 4:00pm EST for return to DCHS. The DCHS office staff preps all the paperwork, but the driver needs to be comfortable and able to handle dogs and cats.

Cat Cottage Caregiver:
  • DCHS is now utilizing our emergency overflow cottage for our kittens, and we are in need of helpers to care for the cats!
  • Daily, thorough cleaning of cottage area, including litter boxes, floors, dishes, bedding, etc.
  • Feeding and Medicating cats as directed.
  • Monitoring the health of the cats on an ongoing basis and rapidly identifying any health problems or conditions (medical or behavioral) and immediately reporting it to the veterinary technician

Cat Socialization:
  • We are currently looking for a couple of dedicated volunteers to assist with cat socialization at the shelter. These volunteers will come to the shelter regularly during office hours (Tuesday-Friday 12-6pm or Saturday 9-12pm) to spend time with our more timid cats and report to staff on behaviors/improvements with the cats you work with as you go.
