Lost or Found Pets


If you have a found a stray dog:

Within the City Limits of Jasper: Call Jasper Police Department non-emergency number, they will then contact the Jasper Street Department for pick up of a detained stray dog
. Please call JPD 812-482-2255. The dog will be held for a 3 day stay hold and then transferred to the care of DCHS, a no-kill process.

Within the City Limits of Huntingburg: The Huntingburg Police Department will pick up detained stray dogs. Please call 812-683-4111. The dog will be held for a 5 day stay hold and then transferred to the care of DCHS, a no-kill process.

Within the City Limits of Ferdinand: The Ferdinand Street Department will pick up detained stray dogs. Please call 812-482-9150. The dog will be held for a 5 day stay hold and then transferred to the care of DCHS, a no-kill process.

Outside of city limits but inside Dubois County: The Dubois County Sheriff Department will pick up detained stray dogs. Please call 812-482-9111. The dog will be held for a 5 day stay hold and then transferred to the care of DCHS, a no-kill process.

If you have a found a stray cat within Dubois County:
We currently work off of a waiting list on kittens/cats due to the sheer volume of cats and kittens we try to help each year with our limited space at the shelter and full foster homes.  We will try our absolute best to assist you in a timely manner, if you can complete this information and note on the bottom it is a stray: https://www.duboiscountyhumane.org/surrendering-a-pet.html

If you are missing your dog, try the following as resources:

1. Dubois County Humane Society at [email protected] or 812-482-7387. All residents of DCHS are also posted at www.duboiscountyhumane.org

3. Strays picked up by the Dubois County Sheriff are taken to Dogwood Animal Clinic at (812) 482-2124.

4. Strays picked up within the Jasper City Limits go into the care of the Jasper Street Department at 812-482-1130.

5. Strays picked up within the Huntingburg City Limits are taken to Dubois County Animal Hospital at 812-683-2388.  


6. Strays picked up within the Ferdinand City Limits go into the care of the Ferdinand Police Department at 812-482-9150.
