Community Cats

A Community Cat is a cat that has been fixed, vaccinated and eartipped then released back into the area from which it was captured. They are the unowned stray and feral (unsocialized) cats who live outdoors in our neighborhoods without a particular home or owner.  Dubois County Humane Society also operates a pet food pantry to assist the community in feeding sterilized feral cat colonies. Please inquire with our office for food needs at 812-482-7387.

Are you feeding stray cats?

We can help get them fixed.  Most community shelters, including DCHS, can't save and support the huge number of accidental litters and strays and brought to the shelter every day. It is estimated there are several thousand stray/community cats in our area. Help us end the stray cat overpopulation in Dubois County!
